Hi, I’m Muhammad Akram, a fourth year student in the Cloud and Distributed Systems Laboratory.
I wanna talk about life. It might seem a little bit different from my title, but like life, all things seems to have a connection, no?
We’re in our early 20s, where people might say we’re in our “prime” ages, where everything is determined by what we do, what we eat, who we talk to and what we read. It might seem true but it’s so so so much more deeper than that. People set high expectations on those who are in their early 20s, expecting them to get high CGPAs, a proper full time job, a nice partner and such. But to me, and to the most of us, life is so much bigger than that.
I like the nice warm autumn mornings where you can see the dew on the roadside daisies. I like listening to music that tingles with my eardrums, giving me a pop of ecstasy that I’ve always known. I like catching up with old friends over some nice Indonesian food. Enjoying your own company, having a structured routine and enjoying life in general. Isn’t that’s all what life is about?
Don’t overwork yourself, don’t push yourself too much. Especially in a stressful research laboratory like mine, we need to thread through life freely, have your own stances and never take the little things for granted. Always put yourself first, do things to make yourself feel better and be grateful of the little things.
- Waking up everyday
- Having a healthy body
- Having food to eat
- Having a roof to sleep under
These might seem like the basic necessities for humans, but in this world, there are people who are unfortunate enough to not be able to get these. Like our brothers and sisters in Palestine, who are going through a cruel, heartbreaking genocide.
Spring has turned into summer, and summer’s warmth has left us to welcome Autumn. Learn to appreciate the little things. Time passes through as we speak, and the past gets further and further away from us as each second passes. So just like warm coffee, learn to savor it in the moment, before it passes and gets cold.
